USGS Water Services

USGS Water Services provides access to water data including real-time streamflow, daily values, site information, statistics, and groundwater levels.

Note: This API will be decommissioned in early 2027. Applications should migrate to https://api.waterdata.usgs.gov.

Available Services

  • Instantaneous Values (iv): Near real-time water data transmitted from monitoring stations
  • Daily Values (dv): Historical summarized daily data (mean, median, max, min)
  • Site Service: Metadata about monitoring locations
  • Statistics: Daily, monthly, or annual statistics based on approved data
  • Groundwater Levels: Historical manually-recorded groundwater levels
